Since 1997, Circles of Rhythm has brought the Integrated Community Drum Circle to gatherings across Calgary and Alberta. No experience needed, every age and ability welcome, and we bring every drum. Indoors or outdoors, our facilitators guide your group from the first tentative tap to the moment everyone locks into one beat together.

A Wedding Drum Circle: Two Families Find One Rhythm
At most weddings, the two families sit on opposite sides of the room and watch each other politely. In a wedding drum circle, they make something together. Grandparents, university friends, the flower girl, the uncle nobody expected to join in - everyone gets a drum, and within minutes two guest lists become one band.
It fits beautifully into a reception, a welcome party, or a day-after brunch, and it needs no dance floor courage. Nobody has to know the steps. The rhythm does the introducing, and it is the kind of moment guests are still talking about long after the cake is gone.
Birthday Parties and Milestone Celebrations
A fortieth. A sixty-fifth. A retirement, a graduation, an anniversary. Milestones deserve more than a slideshow, and a drum circle gives the day a centrepiece everyone can join - from the youngest guest to the oldest, no musical background required.
Drumming belongs to the same family of activities as running, painting, or singing in a choir - things that are simply good for people: easing stress, lifting mood, building connection, having fun. At a milestone party, that looks like a room full of people grinning at each other over drumheads.

Some gatherings ask for something quieter. When family and friends come together to honour someone they have lost, there is often a moment when words run out. A memorial drum circle offers another way to be together in that moment.
The circle can be soft and reflective, or it can celebrate a life with warmth and even laughter, depending on what feels right for your family. Our facilitators shape the rhythm around your wishes, your traditions and the person being remembered. We have facilitated memorial and hospice-connected circles for many years, and we hold these gatherings with great care.
This is not a performance, and it is not therapy. It is simply a way for people who loved someone to sit together, make something together, and honour a life - expressing as a circle what each person might not manage alone.
Reunions: Three Generations, One Beat
Family reunions have a familiar rhythm of their own: the adults visit, the teens drift to their phones, the little ones orbit the dessert table. A drum circle pulls everyone into the same moment. There is something quietly wonderful about watching an eight-year-old and her great-grandmother playing the very same beat, three generations on one rhythm.
It works just as well for school reunions, team reunions and homecomings of every kind - any gathering where people who share a history get to make a new memory together.
Community Gatherings Across Calgary
Block parties, cultural celebrations, school fairs, faith community picnics, neighbourhood festivals - a community drum circle turns a crowd of neighbours into a circle of friends.
